The Salem United Methodist Church Scholarship is available to students who are members of the Salem United Methodist Church. Scholarship awards will be considered based on special emphases. First, students seeking a degree in ministerial or religious studies are to be given the most consideration. Second, students enrolling in United Methodist colleges are to receive the second highest consideration. Third, students enrolling in other church colleges shall receive the third highest consideration. Fourth, the least consideration shall be given to students who enroll in other institutions of higher learning.

The completed application, along with an official high school or college transcript and letters of recommendation must be returned to the church office by June 1, in order to be considered for a scholarship. The application must be typed and completed in its entirety. Applicants must have and maintain a 2.0 GPA in the prior academic year and be enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester in college to qualify. To obtain a copy of submitted transcript/application, request must be made by the student and will not be released to anyone else unless written request is made by the applicant.

Each applicant will be notified in writing of the results. Scholarship winners will be informed of the amount and presentation date. Recipients will be recognized in a church service. Payment will be made in two equal installments directly to the educational institution prior to registration for the fall and spring semesters. Applicants must apply for awards annually and can receive awards for no more than five years of undergraduate study and two years graduate studies. Those receiving scholarships must stay enrolled for the entire school year and maintain a 2.0 GPA or scholarship will be revoked. If you fail to enroll or withdraw during the semester, the refunded scholarship money must be returned to Salem UMC.
